Background
When I work with someone, I like to take the time to truly understand who they are, where they come from, the experiences that shaped them, and what motivates them. Strong relationships are built on mutual understanding and trust, and I know you probably feel the same way. No one wants to work with someone they don’t feel connected to. So I’d like to share a bit about myself so you can get to know the person behind Cardinal Tax.
I grew up in York County, Pennsylvania, splitting my childhood between Hanover and Littlestown. After high school, I attended college for a year, but soon felt called to serve. In the years following 9/11, I joined the Army Reserves, inspired by the sense of patriotism that moved so many of us.
My time in the military played a major role in shaping who I am today. I completed two tours, one in Qatar in 2004 and another in Iraq in 2009. Those years taught me discipline, resilience, and how to work well with people from all backgrounds. After returning home from my second tour, I finished my undergraduate degree in Finance at Towson University.
As my career began to unfold, I realized how much I enjoyed helping people and businesses make sense of their financial lives. That passion led me to pursue an Accounting degree and ultimately earn my CPA certificate in 2016. Since then, I have focused on providing tax, accounting, and consulting services to individuals and business owners who want clarity, guidance, and a trusted advisor in their corner.
Today, I live in Timonium, Maryland, with my wonderful wife and our two amazing children. We stay active in our community and attend church at Nativity on Ridgely Road. As a family, we love getting away to Ocean Pines, Maryland, whenever we can, enjoying the coastal atmosphere and time together.
The same dedication and values that shaped my life are the foundation of my work at Cardinal Tax. Whether you are a small business owner, a real estate investor, or simply someone trying to navigate your taxes with confidence, my goal is to offer expertise, trust, and a genuine personal connection.
I look forward to learning more about you and working together to help you reach your financial goals.
Matt Miller, CPA

Values
At Cardinal Tax, everything I do is rooted in a strong set of values that guide how I approach my work and relationships with clients. I believe that success, both personally and professionally, is built on a foundation of trust, integrity, and a commitment to doing what’s right. My mission is to provide not just financial solutions, but peace of mind, knowing you have someone in your corner who genuinely cares about your success.
One of the core principles I live by is taking a long-term view of things. In life and in business, short-term decisions often lead to short-lived results. Whether it’s developing a tax strategy, building your business, or planning for the future, I focus on creating sustainable solutions that benefit you now and for years to come. This means thinking ahead, staying proactive, and making decisions that align with your broader goals.
I also value relationships over transactions. Numbers and spreadsheets may be the tools of my trade, but it’s the people behind those numbers that matter most. I take the time to truly understand my clients—their challenges, aspirations, and what keeps them up at night. By building strong, personal connections, I can provide advice and strategies that are tailored to your unique situation.
Another guiding value is accountability. I believe in delivering on my promises and being transparent every step of the way. Whether it’s meeting deadlines, explaining complex tax laws in plain terms, or simply being available when you need me, you can count on me to be reliable.
Finally, I value growth: for myself, my family, and my clients. Continuous learning and improvement are essential to staying ahead in an ever-changing financial landscape. I bring that same mindset to my clients, helping them grow their businesses, achieve their goals, and navigate challenges with confidence.
These values aren’t just words, they’re how I live my life and run my business. When you work with Cardinal Tax, you’re not just hiring a CPA; you’re gaining a partner who’s invested in your success for the long haul.
